I can't stand anything with heavy distortion and screaming. I don't even like electric instruments (with a few mild exceptions - usually jazz, blues, and the Beatles), so I'd say I probably hate metal and screamo and similar loud, sloppy music more than any other kind.
    I find 2 faults here....
    1. Likening metal to screamo.
    2. Generalizing metal as "sloppy". Listen to Dying Fetus or Origin. I don't care whether you like it or not, but it is anything but "sloppy."

Well, nice idea... but not really true, now, is it?
If no one will listen to your message they're sure as hell not going to be more likely to listen to it when you're yelling it unintelligably.

Something I have to say does almost annoy me about 'political' 'screamy' bands is that they can say the most ridiculous crap but still have a bunch of followers who think it's 'so true, man' because the lyrics sheet looks meaningful.
But yeah, somebody yelling a message over some power chords, to the metalheads/crust punks out there probably does give it more authority. Not to everybody else, though. Not to the normal people.
Once you've been listening to the genre for a while, you can understand it regardless

    Metal offends my ears.
Pretty much this. I really don't like metal, to much screaming and all they do to make up for it is play loud guitar.

The amusing thing about this is that the first metal band (as well as the best metal bands, speaking as a USPM fan) didn't feature harsh vocals.

Well, to be fair here, some metal bands could perhaps be characterized as sloppy, such as Fastkill. However, Fastkill are sloppy in a good way. Though mainly tight, yes. Certainly, I've never heard anyone call the 'Beyond the Realms of Death' solo sloppy. Interestingly, the live version in 'The Ultimate Priest in the East' (not released on 'Unleashed in the East' for some strange reason) was quite a bit better than the album version of that song.

Ok, well I admit I like a couple Metal bands such as Nightwish, but overall I can't stand it. Most of it just sounds like screaming to me. One thing that really defines "good" music to me is good vocals.
Metallica doesnt have screaming vocals.Neither does Judas Priest,Black Sabbath,Iron Maiden.I think you have just went head first into the more extreme sub-genres that it takes some time to get the ear for.The thing is,metal can be in any shape or form.Black,Death,Thrash,Glam.All have theyr own unique aspects. So dont judge bands by how good theyr "singing" is.Listen to the lyrics and the mood the music creates to get the most out of your metal experience
