Don't like metal. Songs are too long, lyrics are stupid, and there are too many stupid solos in a repeated manner.

I like Reggae, some rap, punk, ska, and a lot of indy.

yes, a bit of it is, but theres also a lot of political bands.

metal is more than screaming. for anyone who knows music theory and isn't sold on metal being incredibly technical/genious (obviously not all of it, of course), I suggest checking out Meshuggah.

but yes, nu-metal and rap metal and metalcore and screamo, and a lot of newage grindcore and that bullshit sucks. Can't stand bands like Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Avenged Sevenfold, or Annotations of an Autopsy.
I'm a death/extreme/thrash/speed/classic metal and oldschool grindcore kinda guy.

I like Metal. Especially stuff like Fear Factory and Slayer.

The only genre of music I can honestly say I hate is R&B.

I wouldn't think less of you for liking metal, it's just not my cup of cha. My current flatmate is a metalhead so I hear quite a lot of the stuff and whilst I wouldn't choose to listen to it I can see the technical quality behind some of it.

Some metal is ok but for the most part it all sounds the same,and some metal shit is just a poor rip off of punk, but hey thats just me.

Can anybody tell me why they even bother to have bass players in bands like lamb of god, and all that remains? theyre tuned down so low that they might as well just be percussion.

I like a few bands, Judas Priest and Meshuggah for example, but I find most of the genre to be quite booring.
