you should have dropped some mortar on the bastard...that would have given him flash backs

Last year during my history class we were learning about the Vietnam war. A man named Mr. Lavou came in to talk about his experiences in Vietnam, and also his nightly flash backs that he had due to his 3 tour of duties. After awhile he got off on a tangent and started talking about how he was a green beret who was assigned to kill Che. Hearing this I got highly pissed off. I listened for a little bit and he started going off about how he "really wanted to kill the bastard" and was pissed off when he got re-assigned to do a tour of duty in Vietnam. The details of what happend next are a little blury, but basically I started arguing with him, nasty words were exchanged and I then called him a brian washed minon who was a slave to a country who doesn't give a shit about the worth of his life. He tried to reason with me, but it was pointless. what was said was said. I can't remember everything about our conversation, it just pissed me off how proud he was about being the first assigned to kill Che. Before I left the classroom I walked over to him and told him I'm glad that he had flashbacks everynight about Vietnam. A ruthless killer deserves it. I never thought I would ever meet anyone who was assigned to kill Che. It was unreal.

That is really uunbeleivable.
What I would have asked him was, did he have any idea why he was told to kill Che. I bet he has no idea. Then I would send him a copy of Anderson's book.
That is really freaky. I can't beleive that that person doesn't get harangued for admitting that. Che is still a major hero to a lot of people.
Let us be judged by how we treat the least among us....Supermodel, rubia y descamisada...
What a bastard, i hope he gets a fat flashback and dies of a heartattack, such a bastard, i mean that is pretty shit...............
Here is a gun to kill the bastard........thats a bit harsh though, but here it is: /,,

LardLad, while you're here I've got a bone to pick with you about your sig.
The leaders of the revolution have children who are just beginning to talk, who are not learning to call their fathers by name; wives, from whom they have to be seperateed as part of the general sacifice of their lives to bring the revolution to its fulfillment; the circle of their friends is strictly limited to the number of fellow revolutionists. There is no life outside the revolution.
That's the full quote. So Che was saying that the revolutionary vanguard willingly sacrifice their outside life and only for the duration of the revolution. the revolutionary is working for the improvement of outside life and it is this desire that drives the revolutionary.
This meaning is lost when you take it out of context like that.
isn't that obsessive, i mean having your life controlled by the "revolution". Sounds like "big brother"
Che Guevara wannabe
comrade I realy have to saythat I admire your strength to
control your temper......
Myself...I would have already punched the guy ......
Cheers for that
my apologies however I did not find the entire quote so please don't blame me. The part I have was the only part that I found.
Now that you have picked your bone I will change it. Are you happy? Of course not to insult you but this whole thing seems entirely petty even if meaning was lost. Now do you have a problem with my new sig?

I got the same Che-Lives.com website that I got when I first found the place. But this board is located at http://community.che-lives.com, so maybe you put "www" instead of "community"? Hope that helps.

I tried that and it wouldn't come up. Thank God I'm able to access this place through emails about replies

DestinDisaster, thank you for sharing the story - my ex was a Major of the USMC, and he held the same sort of beliefs, which I always found very disturbing ... believing in something, but not knowledgeable enough to understand why he believed it, other than that was what they were all taught to believe. Brain washing's wonderful, hey.
Just for interest's sake, the following is a writeup on Che's last days (it also shows the different possible endings, not just one):

Thanks Angie
Hey, question. does anyone know what I should do next time he comes to my school? He comes every year to speak to the U.S history students. I want to sit in on his "lecture" to ask some questions, or make a comment. But I don't know what to ask. Last year wasn't very succesful. should I even go?
