I was wondering about any opinions on why Che and Castro decided for Che to go to Bolivia, and whether or not it had anything to due with their strained relationship at the time. Any help would be appreciated

going to bolivia was more che's choice than castro's....it had a lot to do with their strained relations - castro was apparently quite glad to get him out of Cuba, but he still cared about him - apparently he stopped him gong to argentina again 'cause he thought it would mean certain death for him

I think also that Che decided that the Bolivians were the most ready for revolution and of course Bolivia is so close to Argentina that it sets the stage for moving on there.

Part of the difficulty of studying this part of history is the lack of good independent info on what was going on in these countries at the time.

Agreed, I saw in a video that it was Che who wanted to go Bolivia since it's so near to Argentina and it would be less dangerous.

It is also important to know, that Castro was against Che's affair to start revolution in Bolivia. But he still let him do whatever he desired. The will of Che to start revolution in all Latin America was hard to break. I still think that it was his mistake; Guevara shouldn't do that.
Though the situation in Bolivia for the start of revolutionary actions was better, than in all other countries of Latin America, it was not the perfect one.

By the way many of the communist theoretics, particulary Lenin, were against of the export of the revolution.

But you can't say that the situation was 100% right I think. I don't think it was his mistake, if he wouldn't have been killed, it would have been the perfect place, don't know if you know what I mean.

I know what you mean, but if the situation have been the perfect one Che would have more Bolivian guerillas joining him. His army would be stronger and he wouldn't be killed.

Yeh, I understand you now. But maybe it was the place with more guerrillas I guess...

I also think Che expected to be kept alive when he was captured by the Bolivians. He said that he was worth more alive than dead, and not to shoot when they captured him. We can only dream what might have happened if they had kept him alive. They were supposed to turn him over the the US in Panama. Maybe he'd still be in Guantanamo today.

Che handpicked Bolivia as he felt when it was liberated it would become the perfect base of operations to export the revolution over it's borders and eventually into his beloved Argentina.

So, you mean that Che choosed exactly Bolivia, only for it's geographical situation, without considering it's economical and social atmosphere?

Well I think that the dream of continential revolution did cloud his judgement a bit. The situation was not perfect in Bolivia really and he had little support from the Bolivians.

I'd say he considered the economic atmosphere but perhaps not the political one. The lack of support from the Bolivians was the problem, perhaps he should have left when he had the chance. I'm sure he considered this option in the last few weeks of the campaign.

Also, those troops, who captured Che were trained by US instructors. I think the situation would be different if US haven't interfered.

Good ol' trustworthy Felix Rodrgiuez says he begged the Bolivian authorities NOT to execute Che...

Rodrigues was just saying that fearing the revenge. CIA are the main initiators of capturing and killing Che.
