Hitler was a socialist - A good short essay.

My favorite part about this is all the shots it takes at "leftists" of today. How we all love dead Jews, how we're anti- Semetic, how the Canadian government shows signs of fascism...

Christ, DC... why do you waste your time with this garbage? You know damn well that Hitler embraced a capitalist (if a very controlled capitalist) economy. Why do you think US companies did so much business with him right up until Pearl Harbor (a couple kept right on doing it after Hitler declared war)?

I had always thought Hitler was a nationalistic socialist (by no means a socialist), and was a socialist in his early days.

Nazi was short for the Germans National Socialist Worker's Party. NSDAT or something like that. Nazi was more popular acromyn.

This is all taken wildly out of context, as you all could tell. This is those poor dolts who quote snippets of the Bible to find a cause for war, when the entire new testament is vehemently against it. This is similar to those who call Stalin a Fascist exactly like Hitler because he said he hated jews. What about the Rathaus that Hitler used to ascend to a higher power, which he blamed on the communist party? What about the Gypsies he had slaughtered largely out of the fear that they were Marxist?

Stalinists are more appropriately called national socialists than the Nazis, because of their "socialism in one country" theory. (Again, "national socialism.")

It's based around the previously mentioned idea that Nazism should be called social nationalism rather than national socialism.

I've always thought of National Socialism as the middle ground between Socialism and Capitalism, because Hitler was opposed to Capitalist and Communist. He was simply acting like Bismark, in appeasing the working class to weaken the Communist posistion.

I think this is a dead topic, we all know that Hitler was never really a socialist, maybe by name but never in action or thought.

Hitler did have some social concerns, as shown by his Volksgemeinshaft ('peoples' community') policies; however these were ALWAYS subordinate to supporting the interests of big business. His economy was somewhat planned (for example the Four Year Plan under Goering). Nonetheless he was not a true socialist. Indeed, Dark Capitalist, why would he have purged Rhoem and all other socialist elements of his part in the Night of the Long Knives if he had been a true socialist? On June 30th 1934 Hitler conciously turned his back on the socialist elements within the party who were demanding a social revolution and had them shot. This smacks of great committment to the socialist cause. :biggrin:

Also... Hitler's party was the Nationalsozialistiche Deutsche Arbeiter Partei (National Socialist Workers Party) or NSDAP. The first word is where the abreviation Nazi comes from.
