CHE Shirts

If you buy a shirt from a capitalist business and you paint che onto it yourself what have you done? Is it better than just buying a Che shirt or is there a difference?

The reason I ask: I have a bunch of clothing paints and I don't know what to do with them.

hmm. That is a pretty good question. it would be better, depending on where you get it from. There's a difference between going to Hot Topic and buying one for $18, and getting one from someone (say a man selling shirts in a stand) selling the shirts independently. Meh. not sure if that was clear.
Put the paints to use, man.

There's no difference at all. Either way, you purchased the shirt through an exchange of capital for a commodity.
If you really want che on your shirt, go for it. It doesn't really matter where you got it from.

Not that it's a bad thing or anything... that's the society we live in.

I bought the only two Che shirts I have from street venders in Central America, It`s okay to give them money, but then I see Che shirts being sold at the mall,
I would never buy a shirt there.

well, i think that if you buy a che shirt if you are willing to tell everyone who askes about "who's that dude on your shirt" all about che, then well, your helping by awareness. well, that's my opinion. And if you paint it yourself that's even better cause it shows how devoted you are, and how much you're willing to put in. and you can be proud that you painted che guevara!!!!!! :lol:

They may both be capitalists but at least you're not giving money to some huge corporation. The only two che shirts I have ever bought were from a street vendor in Mexico and off of ebay, which is helping someone get rich off of capitalism(because a part of the sale goes to ebay) but its an effective way to use the internet to purchase things. But like the wet blanket says, we live in a capitalists' world and to completely cut yourself off from capitalism is nearly impossible. (I have gotten a few things on ebay but not lately, is it wrong from a communist point of view to use ebay?) This was before I had been to che-lives.com. What does the che-lives store do with its money anyways? prolly says on the site but im to lazy to go check it out

The difference is that if I buy a shirt and paint it myself then I can afford to have a che shirt.

I got my che shirt from a cuban lady that had fled Cuba and hated the Cuban government (she told me as much when I bought the shirt.) Ironic? Heh. One of my mom's friends gave me an old-school Che shirt from Cuba, purchased at a rally where Che spoke out of some guy's van. I think that's hilarious- people were making money off of his image even when he was alive!

But at least if I were to paint the che image on the shirt myself I would not be helping some capitalist piggie make a couple of bucks off of Che's face right?

I dunno...I wouldnt buy a Che shirt, but people give it to me. I mean on my birthday my mom gave me a Che Shirt, then later I went to my dad, and he gave me one too <_<

Last year in Peru, my aunt bought be a Che shirt...what is it with people buying me Che shirts?

Get real, kid, and read some Marx. One could be a Marxist and still be able to live in a capitalist society. That is how goods are produced and exchanged in today&#39;s society, simply taking part and playing the role of a consumer doesn&#39;t make one who considers themself a communist a hypocrite in the slightest.

Somebody selling a Che shirt is trying to make money off of Che&#39;s oh so famous face. By printing Che onto their shirts they are trying to make them sell better, right? Everybody needs a shirt. Not everybody needs an overpriced trendy shirt with Che&#39;s face printed on it.

Its so funcking stupid, I&#39;m sure that the"Che" is twisting in his grave... so the Che image use to be a sing of your ideology, usualy you know what the hell was with it, but now, any asshole buy a Che T-Shirt just be cause it looks "cool", now, the image of the Che is totally distorted, so, just like the Rage Against The Machine shirt use to say: "Be cool like Che", and be more cool by buying it to some big corporation...
