Well it did start with a fascist friend. Not like the prospects were that good anyway.

From the point of view of actually discussing fascism and where it is in the world, it's not really getting anywhere.

From the point of view of everything sucks, I just want to watch the world burn, well, come to think of it, when you have a failed state, whether resulting from capitalism, feudalism, warlordism, corruption, incompetence, or some other type of authoritarian structure, there are strains of the same kind of "nihilist" anger common to all sorts of radical ideologies, even if they end up going in different and opposite directions (and even end up fighting each other on the political and military battlefields).

I guess the only thing they can all agree on is that the previous administration was an abject failure. If you wanted to find common ground among the various post-collapse parties, instead of arguing with them on where their paths have taken them after the collapse, it may be easier to walk them back to the shared branch of the ideological family tree, when all parties finally decided the previous system was crap.

Don't mean to be flippant, but I'd say in fact that everyone does just want to be happy. However, sometimes that happiness is wrapped up in the "correctness" of the ideology they've chosen to follow, such that if their ideology is "defeated" then they feel unhappy. If you wanted to flank that, you'd have to disentangle their identification with the ideology, such that their sense of self-esteem is no longer associated with the correctness of the ideology. Saying "only an idiot can believe what you believe" would probably be counter-productive. It would probably be hard to get them to associate with an opposing ideology, but might be easier to instead get them attached to something relatively unrelated, for example, their artistic or athletic ability.

Tell him why national socialism is not socialism. If it is the socialism he is interested in then surely you can bring him around. Good luck.

Talk politics with him/her, make your friend realize how racism is dividing the working class and is only good for the rich, how stupid it is to hate a whole people or nation, as there is good and bad people in every country. Teach your friend about how the bourgeois and the capitalists was the ones who gave the nazi movement money, so that they could beat and kill socialists and workers on strike, and so on. Make your friend see that fascism/nazism is the most anti-worker ideology that exists. They are guarding the capitalist system with violence to make sure the rich stays rich and the oppressed stays oppressed and poor.

It's a laughable/enraging :laugh::mad: shame that the internet humor/memes has literally spread Nazism to elements of people.

What can you say to him? That the holocaust was considered the WORST CRIME in HISTORY back in 1942 and therefore was not just a misstep, it was going well on it's way from 1942-1943, (Chelmno, Sobidor, Operation Reinhardt) not just an end-of-war chaotic mess where Jewry died collaterally during Allied destruction of Germany, Starvation, etc. Tell him holocaust is worst thing ever. Tell him the Italian Fascists were not antisemitic or racialist and didn't participate in the holocaust. Wean him from Nazism --> Italian Fascism --> Social Democracy --> ???
Tell him Communism respects national-self-determination and freedom for all ethnic groups as well as social justice for the people. Tell him that antisemitism, while some of it might be based on some factual things, he is not seeing the context: That while Jewry represented elements of Capitalism, Middle-Men, Finance, Trade, Business they were not the *only* elements within that, and that Landed Aristocracy/Feudalism/Gentry was decidely non-Jewish, that Jewish Heritage/Bankers aren't any *worse* than Militarists, Aristocracy, Industrialists, Barons, etc, that Socialists believe Capitalism is a more Progressive Stage than Feudalism. Tell him /Pol/ is garbage. Tell him the Left is far and wide, although we have common agreements, opposition to Nazism being primary. There is Anarchism, to Leninism, to Social-Democracy, etc. Tell him as Communists we disagree with the Communist States themselves. We think Russia in the 1960's to it's end was Social-Imperialist, or we believe that Anarchism is the way to go, that Socialism was achieved but not Communism, or that State-Capitalism was achieved, etc. Tell him though anti-Nazism is where we draw the line. Tell him Communism is open to all humanity of all ethnic/racial groups. It's a big-tent ethnically, but a small tent ideologically. And that we are scientists, following the line of history and economics. He should get on the train of progress or stand aside.
