Quotes on Libertarian Anarchism
“Capitalism is the one system that requires absolute objective law, yet libertarians combine capitalism and anarchism. That’s worse than anything the New Left has proposed. It’s a mockery of philosophy and ideology.”
“Libertarian anarchism is pure whim worship, because what they refuse to recognize is the need of objectivity among men—particularly men of different views.”
Ayn Rand
I strongly disagree with most of Rand's ideas but she is 100% correct here.
“We must therefore conclude that we are not anarchists, and that those who call us anarchists are not on firm etymological ground, and are being completely unhistorical.”
Murray N. Rothbard
Libertarians are just as much "statists" as their opponents are. Their system requires it and that is why libertarian thinkers advocate it.
The most powerful of that is Proudhon's "Property is theft." IMO.
At first I thought you were talking about libertarian socialism and I was like "wtf wat".
That being said, why do libertarians hump Rand's shin if she said that about them?
Since we're circle jerkin' here, Rothbard also said
this nifty shit

The parent therefore may not murder or mutilate his child, and the law properly outlaws a parent from doing so. But the parent should have the legal right not to feed the child, i.e., to allow it to die.

Now if a parent may own his child (within the framework of non-aggression and runaway freedom), then he may also transfer that ownership to someone else. He may give the child out for adoption, or he may sell the rights to the child in a voluntary contract. In short, we must face the fact that the purely free society will have a flourishing free market in children.
That would be pretty sweet if you were a parent and didn't want all the little ankle bitters & curtain climbers around anymore.
Wouldn't be so good if you were a child though. Although you could join a feral pack of runaways and mug the wealthy.

You should write a novel about a feral pack of runaway children in a libertarian utopia who mug the wealthy.
