chomsky is a great guy, the only problem wich i think he has he believes in archieving anarchism by a parliament. and he is assured if there is a government it will kill itself when its no longer needed. but it wont because the job of a government is to keep itself needed.

There is a series of books that I use quite often for refrence called " The Story of Civilazation" By Will and Ariel Durant. Will was a athiest and Ariel was a anarchist. They used this combenation to write one of the world's first history of civilazation without the pretence of religion or govt.
The point of mentioning this is that when anyone ever asks me if anarchy could ever work I tell them of how Ariel Durant was a teacher at a anarchist high school in NYC... (This is quite a long time ago mind you) The school had no rules... but NYC had to force them to make the law that students couldn't leave the school grounds. They didn't want these children running around the city... I'm not well versed on other reasons why the school was a falure... but I know it was.
i think that situation is a little different. it is impossible to have an anarchists section within a ruled society. were all of society anarchist the situation would be different. I think the analogy (or reference) you use is not correct in that there are not enough similarities for there to be an analogy/refernece
Nickademus, I suppose you are right... it was a bad example
sorry redceltic, i guess its the lawyer/philosopher in me that decides to pick apart little things like that.
can someone explain to me exactly what anarchism means? and what the difference is between it and communism?
This is a bit over simplifying it... but Anarchist's believe that the people are most free without govt. In this system ( or non system) people are free to do what ever they want as long as they don't harm anyone.
In the eyes of Anarchists... Socialism and Communism are wrong because although based on humaniterian efforts... they endorse setting up more govt. regulations...
Please correct me if I'm wrong I'm not too well versed on in any more than that...
anarchists believe that people are inherently and generally good and therefore don't have the need to have rules. that's the way i see it.
