I think you have a point about libertarianism being "the fascism of the future" - I've noticed a lot of "small government" type rhetoric over the past couple of years, mainly in the US, although doubtless other countries have had a similar upswing.

I must say that the basic tenets of such ideologies play really well into the "fuck you, I've got mine" attitude which seems to be distressingly prevalent in the US, especially with regards to the issue of healthcare.

Although re-reading the above two sentences, maybe I should worry more about the political situation closer to home...
