Oh yeah, and I should note that Socialism can only exist in states that were originally Capitalist but progressed out of that state. Socialism cannot exist in Third World countries.
Socialism could easily maintain itself if manifested in the USA, which we believe is inevitable with the social consciousness of the workers.

Just to answer the question posed in your signature, I would like to say that there have been some. The Soviet Union 1917-56, China 1949-79, Cuba 1959-current.

These countries, however, have only been able to achieve Socialism in One State, not true Socialism. Socialism can truly begin once the world has become one. I have made the point before that we aren't exceptionalists, and we don't expect too much out of our current era. We must wait for the MATERIAL CONDITIONS to be in place before Socialism can finally exist. This will take many decades, if not lifetimes. I hope this answered your questions.
