Yes, I know the song! I considered listening to it today but I didn't have time. It is based on an old folk poem by Charles Kingsley. Many folk songs were written about poachers and it is worth noting that the poaching laws were put in place by the Normans, who wished to blood-hunt, yet didn't want the peasants to hunt for food.

No one cares about the harrowing because the North-East is thought of as ''the arsehole of the country'', if I may be so crass, because it is poor and working-class and far from the British capital. Most southerners do not even know that most of us exist thinking that everything above the Roman wall is Scotland.

Yeah, the upper-middle class are mostly descendants of poorer ''Normans'' anyway or just people who know they benefit from the aristocrats. Until recently the school system tried to teach that the Norman invasion was a good thing for England, and more progressive, but luckily historians started to challenge that view. At the moment they teach a ''neutral'' version of the events - so they do not point out the bad things that Normans did, but they do not glorify them either.

Almost forgot about the Dublin Brigade. And yes, the provisionals are one of the groups I hated the most for many reasons. Half of any IRA group seem to just be gangsters with no real regard for the communities they claim to protect, but at least groups like the INLA were mostly made up of sincere members.

The English Revolution is one of my favourite topics, and even more so for GallowsBird. Opposition to ''Norman Yoke'' was a major drive in that revolution, and it was a major drive for the True Levelers (and I think Gerard Winstanley actually coined the phrase) in the Civil War. The fact that the Norman families still held power in the 1630s is frightening in itself, without them existing still. And I really hate ethnic over-classes with a passion.

And, I forgot about that group. Well, I certainly support them over the IRA etc. but yes, I hope a strong Marxist-Leninist(Maoist or otherwise) will be formed in Ireland and overtake the IRA in terms of popularity.

Oddly enough I usually prefer Irish people, and the Liverpudlians who are descended mostly from Irish people, more than most English people but it depends on the region and I hate the English workers getting blamed for the aristocracy by some elements in Ireland. Workers should stick together.

No, you are not wrong. I have a special contempt for the English ruling class. I call them ''Normanites'' because most of them would hold no real power in England if their pirate descendants didn't invade in the past. I find it disgraceful that an ethnic class from circa 1066 still have descendants that make up the bulk of the English aristocracy. I would not be sorry if many of them were lined up against the wall, to be blunt.

OK, it is just jocular, I think. But They could be annoying wankers, it depends on how you view them!

And being a Marxist-Leninist (though not Maoist), I would like to see a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist Party of Ireland, as even the INLA are not without ideological faults. I loathe the IRA, though not the original IRA (which morphed into the army of Ireland), though some IRA groups less than others. Sadly there is not much choice of an actual group to support in Ireland (I support any real communists over the IRA, though) but I cannot shake any support of Republicanism off me. N. Ireland has been calling out to be a Republic (a part of southern Ireland or not) for too long.
