I think that a vanguard that is just an advanced section of the working class that doesn't "bring" socialism to the workers but builds it would be of nessecity, but Lenin's idea of the vanguard I do not believe would be of necessity for a industrialized country. Lenin was dealing with a mass that had high illiteracy, almost no schooling, etc. so I do think his vanguard idea was of necessity for his situation, but I do not think it is of necessity in a country with little illiteracy, mass, public, and compulsory schooling, etc.
