I don't think the point of materialism is to say how much of an impact material reality will have on someone depending on their circumstances (though I find your implication, that it might possibly be made "less important" for some, quite bizarre). I think it's to say that ideas stem from material reality, as opposed to the reverse.

At any rate, being materially comfortable (and we're in danger of equivocation here so we need to be careful) might free one from certain stressors, but it doesn't free one from the material realities of life under capitalism. Not in the slightest. A good hallucinogen might accomplish that, but more exchangeable tokens won't.

Alright. I still think you should reconsider explaining your own ideas rather than linking to those of others. I don't want to follow the links, as I have before, and then, in criticizing them, have to deal with the fact that they are not, in fact, expressing your specific ideas. It's fine to provide them as supportive evidence, but you understand my frustration.

So, do all of your arguments eventually degrade into "I don't know what I think / how to explain what I think, but please read these articles"? If so, I really feel sorry for you. Such an intense focus on defensive, insubstantial arguments can't be very fulfilling.
