Even though I admire the past Volunteers of the INLA and what they sacraficed I think the way in which they conducted the war was tactically misguided.
They along with the PIRA had mass public support in the 70s and 80s, the contradictions of Imperialism were too blatant to ignore by the ordinary working class, especially when they were kicking in your door and inturning your sons.
When Republicans were able to get 100,000 people on the streets of Belfast for Bobby Sands Funeral they were able to get that much involved in mass worker unrest.

They should have conducted operations which helped instigate worker unrest and support a general wave against Imperialism.
When Mickey "Red" Devine was on his deathbed in 1981 he called for general strikes throughout the country as he saw it as the only way to bring down Thatcher, but it was too little too late.
Many mistakes occured in the tactical way in which the war was conducted, not from a moral perspective but from a Marxist perspective on how to involve the working class.
