When i spoke of liberation camapigns, and the CPGB's disregard for them, you said:

"Well, a return to orthodox Marxism means the downplaying of New Left identity politics and an emphasis on class politics. I don't see a problem there."

Do you even know what identity politics are?
And if so, why do you see them as seperate from class politics?

Ahh then. It seems you use it more than other users. Also, are you a Kautskyan? I am unfamiliar with his works.

In the Militant-era the word sect and sectism was used to denounce those organizations on the left that made programmes which didn't accaunt for the 'subjective situation'. C.f. the "tranistional method" or "approach".

In the post-Militant era the word sect got replaced by "ultra-left". This can only be understood in the context of the organizational crises of the IMT and CWI.

"we're more than qualified to be on the party's "formal program" committee or what not"

But we don't have the kind of "good noses" one needs to avoid rampant "ultra-leftism" .

[Reply] For a while I have been busy talking to old high school and college friends on facebook, and helping kids with their homework on physicsforums.com - when I use the computer at all - this is my firewood chopping season.

Did you read my letter in the Weekly Worker?

I think I can finally stop ranting about what happened months ago thousands of miles away from me. it's kinda like I now have closure. I had lots of strong opinions about it. The only thing I regret is the last sentence. I think I was trying to have some grand conclusion to it reinforcing my internationalist views, but it sounded like I was saying that it's inherently reactionary to fly the British flag. That's actually not what I believe.

"A new centrist project does not have to repeat these mistakes. Nobody in this topic is advocating a carbon copy of the Second International (which again was only partly centrist)." (Tjis, class-struggle anarchist)

"A centrist strategy is based on patience, and building a movement or party or party-movement through deploying various instruments, which I think should include: workplace organising, housing struggles [...] and social services [...] and a range of other activities such as sports and culture. These are recruitment and retention tools that allow for a platform for political education." (Tim Cornelis, left-communist)
