Indeed, though I wouldn't say it is an examination of video games for the sake of examination. By that I mean my article focuses more on the messages that certain popular games push and the possible effects these messages have in "edging" someone closer to reactionary, or progressive politics; building on this I then make some starter proposals on how to counter this narrative.

That is only the first half of the article, however. The second half deals with the gaming industry as a whole, the "cyber-classes" and the real world applications concerning video games in regards to making revolution.

So far I haven't heard back from Kasama concerning the status of the article but they are very busy in launching the new site and sending their reporters to Nepal so I assume, since it is also of length, that it will not be for a while.

Maoist-Third Worldist aren't the kind of people which I would consider comrades (and I do not say that lightly). As far as I am concerned they are false Maoists who advocate policies which are no better than fascism (which could be even worse).

What attracts me is the development: the level-headedness, objectiveness, realization of Marxist theory (contradictions, mass-line, continued struggle under socialism, and warfare, and creative development). Maoism has a lot to offer the world in terms of bringing about revolution. It may not be correct for all nations, depending on their material conditions, but it is a ray of light in many parts of the world. Being sympathetic to Maoism in the first-world means I am part of a task to re-examine and analyze the previous communist movement and help build the new (which will not, in all likelihood, be led by a single tendency).

Nowadays I find myself closer to the Maoist tradition. I uphold the Soviet Union under Stalin in the sense that while it may have been socialistic, in the very least, (I am still on the fence of SIOC) Stalin tried his best to defend the gains of the revolution. He made mistakes, yes and disasters in terms of foreign policy (which he honestly should have remained out of) but his leadership secured the foundation for the USSR. I am still highly critical of him, and would need far more space than what is allowed in a visitor message to explain my position, but evaluate him in a very objective sense.

Here's an article by MIM that takes Pol Pot into some serious discussion, though I disagree with their denunciation of him as an opportunist/not Maoist:

As for thirdworldism, my position is a little more complex. While I acknowledge the existence of a labour aristocracy within the systemic structure of first world parasitism and imperialism, I break with many thirdworldists and members of MIM insomuch as I continue to believe in a substantial proletarian class in the first world, just that they are not a majority nor in any sort of revolutionary situation (I also break with them for supporting Pol Pot Thought).

Hope that clears things up. -PMao

No offense taken, in fact I appreciate the complement in its context. Most messages I get about thirdworldist or pol-potist leanings tend to be a considerable more confrontational.

As for Pol Pot, In the same manner that socialism/communism has been ingrained in the public consciousness as an "evil" force in the west by their governments, media, and churches- a similar phenomenon occurred throughout the communist international community following Vietnam's invasion of Kampuchea as a means to justify their campaign. While I will not attempt to justify everything that happened in Kampuchea, as mistakes were made as are made in any revolution, the bulk of Pol Pots writings seem fairly logical and extraordinarily revolutionary given the circumstances of the Cambodian revolution- circumstances which apply to many states throughout the third world.

Comrade I have received your PM and I will reply in an hour. Meanwhile do you mind it if I forward it to other knowledgeable comrades from our usergroup, like Q and DNZ, they might have something interesting to add to whatever I say.

No I don't think so, but he does have this fantasy of becoming fantastically rich himself.

Yeah, Deicide did give up on Marxism. Ismail talked to him directly on youtube and he confirmed it. He's now a right-wing libertarian who loves Austrian Economics.
  10. Interesting; thanks for the info.
