At Japan's largest private university at the time, Nippon University (Nichidai), instructor tax evasion in connection with unfair student entrance policies, as well as the discovery of over 2 billion yen (roughly 100 million dollars) of fees that have gone unaccounted for, sparks student struggle. In 1968, after an armed confrontation between right-wing/athletics students, an indefinite barricade strike is launched across the university. Over 35,000 people and students attend a mass negotiation session that the university director is forced to attend.

It's from Robert Service's biography of Stalin. Apparently he said it during the time he was going to massacre 'counter-revolutionaries' from Estonia.

NAMBLA roleplay involves acting things out in an AB/DL fashion with consenting adults.

The best I can do for now is point you to the link in my signature, "An introduction to anarchist communist technocracy" by Cult of Reason.

Otherwise, I've been thinking of one day going through my posts and basically turning all the posts I've made into a series of essays/blog entries on various topics, or at least the topics I've talked about. Unfortunately, my ambition is tempered by my laziness.

I don't think so. I have good reason to believe that the more horizontal a society is, the better it is. Wilkinson is talking about relative gaps in wealth, but I think such economic inequality is also indicative of social and political inequalities.

I think a technocratic system that fails to be as democratic as possible won't last long. The rational planning of society and the economy must also take into account the needs, desires and aspirations of the people in society. Otherwise one ends up giving people what one thinks they need or want, rather than empowering them with the skills and resources they need to get what they actually need or want.

If there exists a class of people within society who have no stake in its welfare, for whatever reason, then you have a serious problem, as the current situation under capitalism illustrates all too well.
