Because of my politics I am very interested in the USSR, mainly the Stalin-era and Albania.
But really I am very interested in all periods.
That really sounds like a lame thing to say, but for me it is definitely true.
When I start reading about periods I get really excited, just reading about it and knowing about little things that were important back then.
I like to look at how “humanity” started, and how we got where we are today how we evolved to this.

Now I have been moving away a bit from the socialist countries' history, because I have been readin about that for about half a year, I am getting interested in the neolithic revolution and the French revolution, although I'm just starting out with those and don't know much about them yet.

For me it is very useful to be interested in all those periods as well, because I have ti know about all of them if I want to become a highschool history teacher, which is the direction I want to go.

If I may ask, since your an 'aspiring historian' what is your period of interest?

I am planning to become history teacher when I finish school, so it is always fun to see people who share the interest of the past.

I tried to dig up some stuff which I posted in the group. Sorry if I'm not much help, it's been awhile since I've deeply read the book.

Welp, I want to learn more about the American and French Revolutions. I have a bunch of French Rev books lined up, tho.

Revleft posting comes and goes for me, I have a guilty conscience for not being here more since I'm after all a mod (which is a responsibility and not a privilege). I work a lot both for my employer and for the International, and sometimes energy just runs out.. But RevLeft has had such an impact on my life for so long, that I guess I'll always keep returning.

I see that you are considering ISO/SP membership. We in the CWI (Socialist Alternative over there) have some differences with them obviously, but we also actually have a person who is both a member of the ISO, and the RS (CWI-Sweden), Such a thing is very rare indeed..

Unless your views about joining the ISO or the SP have cemented enough already, feel free to ask me about the CWI. Our US branch is one the fastest growing ones, nearly doubling its membership last year and running a candidate for the house of reps in the state of Washington.
