Going to Europe, huh?

Getting a tablet or e-reader sounds like a good idea. I've got an iPad, and it's pretty great for reading PDFs. If you can afford it, it's a good option; but the software you have to use to transfer data to it is very annoying if you use Windows.

You should read Abagail Adams including her correspondence with Jefferson. I also suggest Sam Adams if you want to learn about American exceptionalism. Franklin is also worth reading.

I don't know of any physical publications, but there is plenty online. The Marxist archive has a lot of his writings. It's a pretty reliable site, I get most of my reading from there in addition to libcom.org and the Anarchist library.

I highly recommend Bordiga. I actually just started reading his stuff a few days ago to find that I share a lot of his opinions completely, particularly regarding the Revolution in Russia.

I'm kind of in an ideological limbo right now, but leaning heavily towards left communism. I've always been a fan of Lenin, but never liked the isms that claimed to follow his legacy. I heard that left communism was very anti-Leninist, so I assumed that meant they disliked Lenin and his ideas, but it seems anti-Leninism is really more about anti Marxism-Leninism, Trotskyism, and Maoism. I don't have too much against Trotskyism though, at least in comparison with the others.
