It is the clearest and most lucid exploration of dialectical materialism I have yet seen. I wish I had discovered it a long time ago. This work appears to be curiously ignored and underrated, even by Marxists. In general, I don't think Lenin made many contributions to Marxism(rather, he tended to uphold it), but I think this work is an exception to that.

It also appears to be one of the least understood. Its bourgeois critics usually try to charge Lenin with making the same sort of metaphysical statement he's arguing against. It's clear that these people are entirely failing to understand the substance of what Lenin is saying.

Have you ever read Lenin's Materialism and Empirio-Criticism?

I used to be very skeptical about dialectical materialism, but from parts of this work that I've read, it's entirely changed my view on the subject. A lot of the anti-dialectics people try to divorce historical materialism from dialectical materialism, and I don't think that can be done. Historical materialism seems to merely be the application of dialectical materialism to history.

Out of curiosity, who are you favorite Marxist thinkers who are currently alive? Philosophers or economists or anything.
