Kuwait is one of the richest countries in the world, so I would definitely classify them as first world, as I would with the other developed Gulf states. I know next to nothing about Bahrain though, so I don't feel qualified to comment on their situation.

Interesting that you consider Kuwait first world. What about the other developed gulf states? What do you make of the movement in Bahrain

I don't have any sharp definition, but a good rule would OECD members are usually first world while non-OECD members are not. There are some exceptions to this, like Mexico and Turkey being third world OECD members and Kuwait being a first world non-member, but they're just that, exceptions.

I did, actually, but I'm being lazy and procrastinating. I'll respond later though. I see where you're coming from but to a certain extent it's splitting hairs, and I could give you some other links that are more to the point. Anyway, I'll admit I'm less sure that pornography encourages sexist beliefs in women the same way it does in men, (and in fact I think I recall some studies that showed the opposite), but it does seem to have at least some negative effects.
