Pretty good piece, read the whole thing. Maoism is a very unattractive ideology, IMO. Only thing attractive about it is cool hardman imagery, y'know, balaclavas and machine guns and such. But you can get that from any number of non-Maoist nationalist armed groups, too, so....
true dat. I'm trying to get my head aroudn your begstealborrow page. What sort of thing are you aiming at? I was surprised when I listened...I thought it was gonna be more sort of...dj-style mixing, it sounded more like dubbing and cut and pasting (don't mean that in a derogatory way at all, i enjoyed it!). Weed music. Kinda interesting and spaced out, no?
I see you likin' my posts, Mr. Miliband!
That movie looks interesting, and I've never heard of it. Thanks! I'll check it out when I get a chance. I just got down with work about a week ago. I'm kind of in the duldrums now, not really knowing what to do, drinking a lot, etc. It's how it always is when I get down with fishing, get my check and then have nothing to do. I hate work but it's also kind of difficult for me to function if my day isn't regimented, y'know? I just need to get the hell out of Alaska, I think that's all there is to it. The good news is that this last year was a pretty good fishing season. I'm currently reading (very slowly) "Revolutionary Anti-Semitism in Germany From Kant to Wagner". It's about anti-semitism in Germany, lol. Really academic, kind of dry. Interesting commentary on Marx's and Moses Hess' views on Jews, though.
Everywhere and nowhere.
Thanks mate! but I don't think you've confused me with anyone necessarily, I've might've mentioned my fondness of Afed sometimes even though I'm not currently actually involved with them. and idk how i'd describe myself politically really, I'm mostly influenced by leftcom and anarchist stuff but wouldn't call myself either at this point because i read a lot less theoretical stuff than i'd want to
just saw your post in the "favorite music genres" thread. this is really random, but you ever hear calypso rose? I was listening to her all day and feel like you may like her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a13-i7AM9os
"Until now, the left has only managed capital in various ways; the point, however, is to destroy it." Where has capital been managed by a socialist state please? It can partially be argued that the beginning of competition under Khrushchev started an increasing rise to a profit motive, which i would agree with, but overall it is a lie to say that there was capital in socialist countries.
