Many small farms are turning into corporate big farms, but people put up much more of a fight here in Wisconsin since it's our #1 economic income (I know California is number 1 producer of agriculture, but Wisconsin depends SOO much on dairy farming). I grew up in a small farm town, and I hate seeing them being over-run with factory farms and taco bells, so I have a big soft spot for farmers. Personally, I'd like to see more agroforestry and polyculture farming, which would severely limit the use of machinery, but that's just me, I guess it'd be up to the farmers themselves to decide. Thanks for the response, always looking for a way to combine the prole and the peasant.

My focus, with regards to farmers, are family farms that have been "in business" for generations. The dairy farmers of my area (Midwest) rarely use migrant workers because of A. racism, B. location (further away from the southern boarder [I'm not saying all migrant workers are Lations/Latinas, but I do know a majority of them fall into that category]) and C. Keeping it family based and/or not being able to afford extra workers. To me, the problem is the fact that many farmers in the Midwest have held onto their land for generations through inheritance, which would be abolished under communism, so what then? Are the farmers then included into the proletariat/workers councils? My idea would be to maybe have separate councils for industrial and agricultural workers, but that could create a class system if done incorrectly. Just looking for your opinion.

I like your post about a more productive organ, too much side talk though. I had a question, what about farmers being represented? I've always wondered this. I, too, believe in the formation of workers councils, but farmers are a very important aspect to society as well, so do you feel like they need/deserve representation in some sort of assembly?

"[I]t’s hard to keep potent historical truths bottled up forever. New data repositories are uncovered. New, less ideological, generations of historians grow up. In the late 1980s and before, Ann Druyan and I would routinely smuggle copies of Trotsky’s History of the Russian Revolution into the USSR—so our colleagues could know a little about their own political beginnings.”
