I would not be so pessimist. I went to Venezuela couple of years ago. I would not say the guys from ruling United Socialist Party are communist, but, according to classical gradation, they are left socialist. However I remember Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua in beginning of 80-s. He was Marxist. Now he is not even socialist.
About the "Movement to socialism in Latin America"... there is none of it. The most we can get are social-populists like Maduro. The revolutionary left is all but dead in most of Latin America and the regions where they are established are under constant siege (Cuban socialism will die together with Fidel (And/or Raul) Castro, The Zapatistas are only managing to survive in the civil war-esque situation of Mexico, the FARC are all but smashed, and so on...)
