But if you look upon him as a socialist then he is one of the worst abominations ever to make claims of being socialist.

I do not despise him for ridiculous claims that he was solely responsible for the terror or the Great Famine or the creation of the totalitarian state. I despise him for the way he reintroduced pre-socialist values, the way he failed to take into account the living conditions of the Soviet people, the way he treated the international Soviet movement (much more se during the 30s than after) and the way that he is so associated with communism today.

I have actually been studying Stalin in some depth for around half a year now. I've read works by himself, by the Cold Warriors, by apologists, revisionists etc. I've also see much of the raw data (well at least what is published in books about him).

Of course Stalin isn't the blind killing machine that eats babies that the Cold Warriors make him out to be. But he was certainly a terrible leader to his people. He was also a poor socialist.

When you look at Stalin from the point of view of someone who only cared about furthering the interests of his nation then I guess you have to say, he's a pretty effective leader.

I didn't realise supporters of Stalin still existed. It seems almost absurd.
