Althusser later rereads his earlier work, criticizing it for ignoring the class struggle and the influence of history on ideas. This refers more specifically to his ideas on theory and science But yes, Althusser downplays class more generally: we are all equally made subjects of capital, 'interpellated', with an emphasis on how this structure is reproduced (rather than interrupted, as in a revolution). Gramsci's analysis of the modern state is superior in terms of understanding class imho D-A-C should be much more knowledgeable on this than me (even if he is studying film) and can explain it, if you ask him. I've done this in my post, and hopefully he will respond.
hello, does this "lthusser's own later self-criticisms of, and distancing from, the structural Marxist tropes he is still most famous for" per chance also involve the class nature of the modern state?
LOL, I think irony might be wasted on The Idler.
