I thought Lafargue's and Guesde's explanation (1883) of the 1880 programme of the Partie Ouvrier was "economist". The separation between Church and State for example was not explained in terms of the political emancipation of workers, but in terms of creating a "cheap state". So I'm in doubt of how revolutionary they were. But I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

So PL, what do you think of "orthodox marxism" or the ideas of some of the members of the group so far? By the way: why Lafargue and what do you know about him? I've only read his and Guesde's popular explanation of the programme of the french workers' party (1880), a document compiled by both together with Marx and Engels.

The long and short of my beliefs are: I suppose the tl;dr version would be a combination of utilitarianist, socialist, and selfless individualist/classical libertarian (in the sense that I highly treasure freedom but also the sense that we should also always remain altruistic and help others before ourselves).

2. There used to be a thread about that in /Learning, but I can't find it now. The gist of it was that there is no unified view on this question really.
3. I know of the Red Party, which is a very young group. Then there are some sites, like the North Star, that have an orthodox influence.
