Book suggestion: "Anarchism and the City" by Chris Earlham
You claim to be a nerd, so get it!
After reading your post(s) in the Anarchism thread, I am highly interested in your thoughts and arguments after reading this book. No, i'm not trying to convert you back to anarchism. It actually agrees and points out a lot of the flaws of the Spanish Revolution/Civil War, just like you said, but from an anarcho-syndicalist perspective. It holds no bars and gives a lot of criticism towards the CNT-FAI.
I'm interested in your thoughts if you ever get around to the book.

You were right. The dude's not just a nationalist dickhead, but he potentially advocating the imperialist takeover of Croatia and Bosnia. So yeah he's adventurist at the least and fascist at the most.

Ah, the military police of Imperial Japan. Interesting history and sad that Japan was forced to jump from a feudal society to a modern Empire in a very, very short period. I always find it a shame that the imperial faction beat out the Bakufu faction of the Tokugawa, as they had already started to head down the road to progression, socially and technologically (which is why Tokugawa Yoshinobu is often seen in modern western clothing such as French uniforms; I prefer classical Japanese fashion though), which is why they didn't call for racist anti-foreigner policies (such as that of the Sonno joi of the Imperial faction) and the Bakufu team held the first election in Japan's history in the short lived Republic of Ezo.

Japanese history is interesting and I managed to visit an Edo-era checkpoint at Lake Ashi with my partner (who is from Japan; Yokohama).

And I see your new profile image is of Harada Mieko as Lady Kaede in 'Ran'. Another fine actress.

Probably the most worthwhile tattoo I have heard of in a long time. Kishi Keiko is a great actress and seems like quite a nice person too.

Have you read of Hearn's Japanese folktale collections, by the way?

Ha, you are banned, but I do like the avatar of Yuki-Ona from one of my favourite films (Kaidan).
