You see, once a capital accumulation economy reaches a certain point, it has to expand, bring more live labor into its process. Rosa Luxemburg wrote about how the very nature of Capital forces expansionism, Imperialism. The USSR of course had to liberalise their economy and open trade to invest into and grow, but by the laws of market where the bigger competition kills the smaller one, the USSR got political problems which were not helped by the fact workers wages, although they had rising productivity/what they gave the state, had stagnated since decades for the US arms race. The only real alternative at this point, instead of liberalising, should have been to let workers control production, the ending of growth should have been a sign that productive forces reached their ultimum within the State capitalist model of producing.

I thought so. Such an opportunistic criticism is usually too good to be true. Albania seems to have done remarkably well given the circumstances. The fall of Albania to capitalism seemed unavoidable in the face of overwhelming momentum in the direction of neo-liberalism and the destruction of the Soviet Union.

No problem, i am new to this forum, but it seems very non-united which is a very strange experience for me. I think Lenin did the best out of the conditions at the time, it could have maybe been more workers self-management and control, but at least the Soviet Union industrialised under Stalin. But with the complete control of the party over the surplus, the situation economic was going to liberalise at some point. The Soviets should have been re-introduced by kruschev once the explosive growth stopped, workers control institutionalised, this should have been the sign to stop the process of capital accumulation and not economic liberalisation which ended up revisionist yes, but was the only option for further economic growth. Had the western imperialism not been so strong though in comparison, the USSR would most likely have fallen into a market economy. Greetings

Hey, interesting find here about the Soviet Millionaires. I suspected that the Kulaks survived, but that is quite a story! At least we know our ideology wasn't only a bloody mess in history, eh?
