As you're aware dogma, doctrine, and ideology have imposed an intellectual stasis on most Marxists which has caused both a philosophical(though of course many Marxists will deny that Marxism has a philosophical foundation, and insist that it is purely scientific, I reject that claim) and scientific stagnation. This is why I think it is key to avoid labeling oneself and staying within the confines of an ideology, perhaps this is what Marx meant when he claimed he wasn't a Marxist. I think many of your methods(though incorrectly called anachronistic by some) represent a break with the stagnation that has characterized marxism the past hundred years.

Essentially the Nietzschean view is that Marxist presumption of the reliability of human perceptions to have a completely consistent interpretation of an objective reality is an idealistic assumption that does not fundamentally break with the philosophy that preceded it. In some ways, I agree with this though as I mentioned the efficacy of materialism is greater than any other known way of interpreting the world at the moment.

Nietzsche accurately critiqued the limits of the ontological materialism that most Marxists advocate, and this critique seems to be further backed up with modern physics. The efficacy of materialism seems to be good in comparison to others, so I still employ materialist analysis, but do not make the marxist presumption of its omnipotency. It seems better to me to reject the trappings of ideology and take a more dynamic view. So a combination of these things combined with some of my more "ultra left' tendencies seems to put more me squarely in the camp of the anarchists than it does the self identified marxists.. but as I said, it's just a label. I don't put much stock in them.

I still enjoy critical analyzing all theory and furthering my knowledge of leftist politics in general.

I still critically support this interesting project of the Kautsky Revival to some degree, though I am still very skeptical about it. Regardless of ones political inclinations, it seems difficult to deny that this would be a vast improvement over the Leninism which currently dominates the "statist" left.

Left Communists would probably accuse me of being an anarchist, and some anarchists might say I am more like a left communist, but I'm not a huge fan of labels. People are always looking for one and make preconceptions based on those and the preconceptions that would go with the label of anarchist would define me more accurately than that of Left Communist in some regards, so meh. I reject the baggage that comes with the label of Marxist, and am critical of its philosophical foundations in regards to materialism.

Nietzsche and Stirner tend to have that effect, of course I've never been much of a fan of the likes of Bakunin and Proudhon for obvious reasons, and Kropotkin to a lesser extent. I've read the German Ideology, and wasn't convinced. In addition, Nietzsche makes a pretty compelling criticism against the philosophical foundation of Marxism.

I identify as an anarchist because that seems to be the closest thing to my current views, though I tend to see the debate about the state as bordering on a semantical argument at times, and share the Left Communist skepticism over the party, as opposed to the working class itself taking state power.

I should have known you would have an interesting idea on the subject. I'm not surprised to see that most people had their status quo reaction, which is a shame. The problem I've always had with dialectical materialism, other than the fact that it's usually construed in a way so vague as to be synonymous with opportunism, is that it tends to be very reductionist. You described the main problem with historical materialism quite well. I'll take a look at those threads some more tomorrow.

By the way, Deicide is curious about Kautsky's connection to Marxism and his relationship to Lenin's theoretical foundations, I told him to send you a message.

"A new centrist project does not have to repeat these mistakes. Nobody in this topic is advocating a carbon copy of the Second International (which again was only partly centrist)." (Tjis, class-struggle anarchist)

"A centrist strategy is based on patience, and building a movement or party or party-movement through deploying various instruments, which I think should include: workplace organising, housing struggles [...] and social services [...] and a range of other activities such as sports and culture. These are recruitment and retention tools that allow for a platform for political education." (Tim Cornelis, left-communist)
