The idea behind it is the so-called "Demokratisierung der Arbeitswelt" (literally: "democratisation of the working world" = "industrial democracy"), that the employees of a big company should have a say in important decisions and the general management. The problem is that the salaries of the "Aufsichtsrat" members are... quite impressive so that the representatives of the workers tend to forget who they represent, become part of the labour aristocracy and betray workers interests for "the sake of the company" = keeping their positions in the "Aufsichtsrat" and thus there salaries by coming to agreements with the capitalists.

I hope this helps and contains the info you needed, if I missed your point or you want to know more, doN't hesitate to ask.

I can't believe you thanked ÉirÃÂ*gÃÂ*'s pathetic rant about the SWP. The idea that there is a "serious left" in Britain which excludes the SWP is a laughable travesty of assessment and, itself, is proof of his "low political level".

Had to break up my post due to character limits:

Still, they are of a different mindset than, say, the Freedom Socialist Party and Socialist Action, who called a vote for the various socialist presidential tickets that were standing in 2008 (with the FSP rating the SP-USA highest, and Socialist Action being a bit more neutral on rating.)

Re Socialist Alternative's "vote Green": it seemed to be more of a specifically-Nader vote than a Green vote, and I can't think of anything in particular that gave a blanket endorsement to voting for Green Party candidates.

As for as the strategy goes, it makes some sense given their line on trying to build a workers' party, as it's an attempt to engage the most powerful force to the left of the Democrats. I don't agree with it (though I don't oppose working with the Green Party under specific conditions), but I can see where they're coming from. Interestingly, the WIL (US section of the IMT) has done something similar: they called for a McKinney vote in 2008, and their St. Louis branch has done some work with the Green Party in their area.

Thanx. I find your ideas to be of interest. Too many people around here think they can get away with reading the introduction to the Manifesto and that makes them Marxists.

Comrade, could you go back to this post and reformat in, including double-spaces between paragraphs and a clearer indication of who and what you are quoting. It's very interesting and worthwhile but hard to follow and critique.

"A new centrist project does not have to repeat these mistakes. Nobody in this topic is advocating a carbon copy of the Second International (which again was only partly centrist)." (Tjis, class-struggle anarchist)

"A centrist strategy is based on patience, and building a movement or party or party-movement through deploying various instruments, which I think should include: workplace organising, housing struggles [...] and social services [...] and a range of other activities such as sports and culture. These are recruitment and retention tools that allow for a platform for political education." (Tim Cornelis, left-communist)
