I am known as a public face of communism. This is my choice. Some activists must be public. Others must be underground. Most are part of the anonymous mass. To restrict me from showing my identity is not simply a policy matter, but is a strong political statement that communism cannot have any public face. This is a political that cannot and must not be trivialized by administrative-bureaucratic methods. To restrict me from showing my identity, at this late date, is about as silly as trying to hide the identity any other public political figure. It makes no sense. It's a non-issue. I am not the only public activist who ever used his real name as his Revleft nick. Up to now, it has never been an issue. There is an enormous difference between trying to help a newbie who doesn't understand to read message-board rules, and trying to correct the well-thought-out choices of a lifelong activist. I trust that you will understand the difference and not make an issue out of it.
Patchd: "Hi, are those pictures of yourself in your avatar and album? I only ask because it is board policy that members (even if they choose so) would not be allowed to post pictures of themselves on here." Comrade, I've been a public activist for 30 years. I used my real name all that time, and I was on TV, radio, and in newspapers many, many times. During the post-911 hysteria, I wrote a series of essays about communist struggle, used my real name as the by-line, and passed them out and discussed them at anti-police and anti-war protests throughout California. I posted them on the Web site http://www.geocities.com/antiproperty and I put several pictures of myself there. This picture is one of those. (Yahoo bought Geocities and killed the domain last year. My essays can still be found on the Internet Archive.) Besides, anyone can find me on Facebook now that I have a page.
