I started in high school too(I was 16 or 17). I didn't really go openly parading my views constantly but I did make it known when necessary. At least a couple teachers knew and at least one seemed cool with it. Hell, I even wrote an anti-capitalist essay and got an A.

I suppose I'm lucky in that I was never raised around much religion. I have literally only been to a church service about a handful of times in my entire life and most of those were with friends. I did flirt with Islam for a few years though. I got out, and quickly! Thankfully...
