Given that liberalism is the context in which we exist, it's basically inevitable that we will all have "liberal baggage". I think that it's different from being "a liberal" in the sense of being an active partisan of liberalism, and I don't intend to accuse you of "being a liberal". I think that our "baggage" needs to be "uncovered", criticized, and dealt with in our practice. I think the approach to gender and race you were offering replicated the "colourblind" line that, in practice, is a class line (and not a proletarian one!).

I highly recommend digging "When Race Burns Class" - an interview with J. Sakai for some context. It's particular to North America in many ways, but there are ideas in it that are more broadly useful.
