Hi. What do you mean, exactly, with you signature: "Marxist but beyond Marx"? Cause Marxism is in itself "beyond Marx", as Marx himself wasn't a Marxist. Marxism is based (heavily) on his and Engels' thought, but Marxism isn't the same as Marx' philosophy, sociology, economics, understanding of history etc., it's making his main thoughts into a system, an analytical tool. So yeah, I don't really see what you mean.

I mean, I'm not saying "mash everyone up together no matter what", we can have a principled unity, but it must be based on PROGRAM, not historical dogma. I support the Cuban Revolution, strongly, but I have no problem being in an organization that thinks Cuba is Stalinist or state-capitalist. Hell, even the people that do think that, still oppose US imperialism's interference in Cuba. I and a group of cothinkers are working to form a new party in the U.S. The name is the Independent Workers Party, and we stand for the unification of the socialist left in America on principled programmatic unity. We have to answer the question "How do we get from here to socialism?" and unite around that, rather than dogmatic agreement on every historical question from 1848 to 2012. Incidentally, mine know about my atheism. That wasn't an issue for me.

My parents still don't know the extent of my views. I don't think that I'll tell them for years. It wouldn't have a positive outcome I think.
