"Why try, at all times, to have a majority of the proletariat in the party."
I don't think the vague term of the 'revolutionary period' should control our party strategy. I would agree that at times of low workers' social&material security and general social decay without bourgeois alternative, this situation of crisis is a special one, a vacuum that invites for revolution. But, workers definitely, absolutely not significantly more class conscious in times of crises, they are merely more angry than usual because unemployment is slightly higher than "usual" and wages are less than "usual". The Proletariat is only made class conscious through education, newspapers, and culture. At a certain point (as we saw in the 1960's) a social hegemony exists, and in this time of nonexistent culture or philosophy, a tactic of mass revolutionary politics is of huge importance, essential I say.

How can a worker's party pose the question of conquering political power if it not a mass party and is not composed of the biggest part of the working class? The alternative to "mass-partyism" is either the anarchist rejection of politics(which essentially deprives the proletariat of 2 of it's 3 main areas of struggle against the propertied classes - the political and the theoretical, all that remains is the economic) or the Stalinist and Trotskyist formation of stupid fucking small bureaucratic sects.

What do you mean by "why the insistence on mass parties"? That's Marxism 101 that dates back to the Manifesto. The 3 immediate aims of Communists from the Manifesto: "formation of the proletariat into a class, overthrow of the bourgeois supremacy, conquest of political power by the proletariat. "

And to understand what Marx means by the formation of the proletariat into a class, you have to understand that to Marx and Marxists, the proletariat only acts as a class when it constitutes itself into a political party. From a resolution drafted by Marx for the First International in 1872:
"Considering, that against this collective power of the propertied classes the working class cannot act, as a class, except by constituting itself into a political party, distinct from, and opposed to, all old parties formed by the propertied classes."

Jux chillin. There are always some of those. For the most part they just don't know a whole lot yet, and then get better. What I really mind is the "social-prolecrat" sort.

You should invite Tim Cornelis to the TWCS group, even though he's an informed opponent. I'd welcome debate.

Good to hear from you again, and holy shit. This place is so infested with liberals and reformists it's insane. I don't think I've ever seen it so bad.

"The exploited are not carriers of any positive project, be it even the classless society (which all too closely resembles the productive set up). Capital is their only community. They can only escape by destroying everything that makes them exploited...Capitalism has not created the conditions of its overcoming in communism-the famous bourgeoisie forging the arms of its own extinction-but of a world of horrors." -At Daggers Drawn

"Our strategy is therefore the following: to establish and maintain a series of centers of desertion, or poles of secession, of rallying points. For runaways. For those who leave. A series of places where we can escape from the influence of a civilization that is headed for the abyss." -Tiqqun, Call
