Regarding the Cultural Revolution, you are Jewish right? You do realise that if the CR happens again, Jewish synagogues would probably be burned down since Judaism represents "a reactionary feudal/bourgeois ideology"?

This is why I have a problem with the focus on "smashing bourgeois culture" during the CR.

No there aren't many fundamental disagreements, which is why I said I'm a "semi-Maoist".

Regarding "smashing bourgeois culture", what exactly is "bourgeois culture"? Classical music? Historical buildings? High heel shoes? I don't see how these things are bad or reactionary at all, yet they were condemned during the Cultural Revolution in history.

On LGBT issues, in the West it may be "historical" to some extent, but in China even today most Maoists don't support LGBT rights. It's true Maoists don't really hate us either, and they won't do anything to hurt us. But they don't support us, they see us as people with mental problems that need to be helped...

In a nutshell, these are the things I have problem with as far as Maoism is concerned:

1) Too much focus on "culture" during the Cultural Revolution. I'm a cultural anarchist and I don't believe "smashing bourgeois culture" is such an important task. I prefer a movement that is more focussed on socio-economic issues;

2) Moral puritanism and conservatism of some Maoists. I believe in things like sexual liberation and organising sex workers into trade unions;

3) LGBT issues - some Maoists, especially those in China, oppose LGBT rights. LGBT activism is important for me (I'm a trans-girl);

4) Maoists generally take Stalin's side against Trotsky. I don't reject Stalin completely, but I'm more on Trotsky's side;

5) Maoism is anti-Confucianism, whereas I prefer the views of the Chinese Trotskyist leader Chen Duxiu (and maybe Zhou Enlai as well) on this matter - a dialectical evaluation of Confucianism rather than complete rejection.

I don't completely agree with Maoism. I'm also influenced by other tendencies like Trotskyism.
