Cuba is qualitatively different to any of the Eastern Bloc nations as it was an independent 3rd world nation when it had its revolution, which was not really financed/initiated/anything to do with the USSR. It seems to me that the PCC adopted Marxism-Leninism out of necessity more than anything else, in order to do business with the USSR, to avoid heading down a DPRK-style isolationist path....
