    Interestingly Stalin used Trotsky's followers to help him in developing the USSR.Stalin used some of the ideas of the Left opposition but applied them far more brutally and undemocratically then Trotsky would have. After they had played their role he had them all killed.

    Thanks. I see the Soviet Union as being a "worker's state", it had a collectivized planned economy although it was strangled by its Stalinist bureaucracy.The SU had some amazing accomplishments to its credit.
