British Nationalism is a contradictory term imo, not just in terms of Britain being made up of four seperate nationalities in itself (English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh) but by extension the British Commonwealth, and now increasingly the EU. The British flag has been hijacked by the far right but it does not represent them, Britain is fairly mutlicultural and has comparative racial equality, even if we still have dispacable divisions of class and wealth. I know Imperialism is dirty word here, and I am no apologist for the evils of the British Empire, but in some cases I think we learnt from it, and maybe even arguably did some good for ordinary people, although of course that does not excuse the bad which far outweighs it.
