The Chinese Revolution was carried out by the peasantry in alliance with the working class, but given that the overwhelming peasant composition of China and the massacre of the Communist workers in Shanghai in 1927 due to disastrous Comintern interference, it was lead by the peasants.
And yes, it is the orthodox Trotskyist position that China was a deformed workers state, its the Sachtmanites who made a break by coming up with their ultra-left 'state-capitalism' theory.
It's fine, continue with your Eurocentric bs about how if a revolution is not a literal re-enactment of the 1917 Russian revolution, it isn't a 'real' revolution.
Furthermore, I am not a 'Stalinist'. That's not a word that you just throw around at anyone who disagrees with you.

Neg-rep me again you silly child. I happened to be making the classic Trotskyist analysis while you spin third-rate Cliffite revisionist bullshit.

Hello there, you seem to have a fairly indepth knowledge of Chinese revolutionary history. What books would you reccomend for a decent understanding of events? So far I've been through a short biography of Mao by Jonathan Clements and The Long March by Sun Shuyun. In terms of Marxist analysis I've only been able to find the International Communist Party's Theses on the Chinese Question.

Certainly, there are many parallels, for example how value arises from the dual private-social character of production, whereas the specific nature of the capitalist state arises from the conflict between the atomization of civil society and the state as representative of the general interest, leading to it taking on a separate form; similarly, Marx refers to communism, in contrast to capitalism, as 'genuine social production' (or something to that effect), and similarly stresses that the state represents the illusory general interest.

And yes, I'm definitely interested in the Sayer article, and from what you had said it sounds like it would be worth reading. Incidentally, the best works I've read so far on Marx's analysis of the state have been either Lucio Colletti's, or based off his. Have you read any of his works?

I was simply using shorthand to refer to Marx's theory of value, as I thought that the message was becoming a bit long. While it is true that the capitalist state is not separable from the capitalist economy, I figured that referring to the 'economic' theory of alienation would get the sense across. As Marx's theory of the state is something of a theory of alienation in itself, more or less what I was getting at is that I was interested in the parallels between the theory of alienation as regards the capitalist production process and the theory of alienation regarding the capitalist state.
