No, not entirely, but the problem is that he doesn't really do a good job with the law of value and tends to gloss over areas where he considers Marx did a bad job. I would seriously look into reading Marx's very short tract "Wage-Labour and Capital" and then if can understand that, move on to Volume I.

I'd kill for someone to do an audiobook of all three books of Capital.

Is David Harvey's Podcast a lecture or just reading from the text? Librivox has a straight audio book version of Book 1 as well. Book 1 is complete in itself, but the rest of Capital isn't. Book 2 leaves it's answers to Book 3, and Book 3 was never finished. Marx was never the best writer, always missing deadlines, and apparently his handwriting was so bad his wife, who's name escapes me, maybe Jenny, had to recopy everything out.

Also, you may not like Ayn Rand, you need to accept that there are intelligent people on the other side. Not that I'm recommending reading her books.

Marxism... hmm... well, I guess you could say I'm a Marxist. I've read the Communist Manifesto, found it inspiring, I've read all of Das Kapital once and the first book twice. I've gone to a few lectures, read a few other things. But though one could identify me as a Marxist, I don't know if I would self identify myself as one.

I am an atheist, as I believe everyone on the left should be, especially those that subscribe to a scientific view of the world. I also happen to be a left wing extremist.

Being an atheist doesn't make you left wing, but being left which should turn you into an atheist, the farther left you go.

Someone on the left, the real left, who is not an atheist, exists in an immanent state. They still need to develop.

And don't forget Ayn Rand did make some contributions to libertarianism.

Revolutionary Social Democracy was the merger of socialism and the worker movement. Both Kautsky and Lenin asserted this.

I'm not sure what he is. He's probably more a Marxist than a Hegelian, but I think this is more a statistical anomaly of what views he happens to espouse at given moments than reflecting any deep, consistent philosophical schema.

Zizek is a loopy but entertaining academic who occasionally has interesting ideas. He's a postmodernist insofar as he's inconsistent and disingenuous but intellectually creative, so, I guess he's very much a postmodernist.

Well, actually the pro-Soviet "Communism" (in fact, a curious blend of Brezhnevite variant of Stalinism and East Ukrainian cultural autonomism) was popular in Ukraine in the 1990s, when the majority of working-class and self-employed missed the apparent 'stability' of paternalist guaranteed employment of the former USSR. Nowadays, they view post-Soviet capitalism as something "natural" and unalterable, and it is really hard to spread even the most basic leftist ideas (even mutualism and apolitical trade unionism, for Marx's and Bakunin's sake!) among the popular classes. The fake "Communist" Party is of course in existence but it fell from its former parliamentarist glory of 24% of the vote in 1998 to 3,1% in 2007, and is pretty much irrelevant now. As for the radical left, in Ukraine it is unfortunately pretty much inexistent, as there is probably 1,000 radical leftist activists around the country, and most of them are left-Brezhnevists or Maoists.
