I like English folklore and festivals too. In fact, it is not uncommon to see green men during May Day. I consider standing in as a green man during May Day once, but the character suits taller people better I think. Folklore and folk song are some of the earlier expression of the peasants and workers, you have songs about poaching (exposing the hypocrisy of the dominate classes love for blood sport, and the fact that you could be punished severely for hunting for food if you were a ''peasant'') and all manner of anti-aristocratic statements.

It is a shame that many of the non-ML trolls are allowed to remain. Rafiq only got a warning for a very disgraceful heightist thread in which he even called me a dwarf. I hope he gets what he deserves soon.

He was an interesting guy. I think that's actually kind of funny about what he said about Che and Castro. I can totally see him doing that. And I know what you mean about him only seeing communism poetically, as with everything else.

Yeah, I think his relationship with communism is kind of interesting and that association sort of made me more curious to read some of his stuff as opposed to some more reactionary or apolitical poets. If I'm not mistaken, he taught literature or writing in the PRC, the USSR, and some other "soviet satellite" states. I know he visited practically every socialist state around at his time, even the revisionist ones, but his homosexuality and eccentric tastes made him an outcast in some of them.

Ah yes. How could I forget Sunflower Sutra? That's another one I like. I really like his confessional tone in a lot of his poems about his real feelings, even if they are "weird" and I like his love, romantic, and sexual poems.

Hey, I'm good. Ginsberg is one of my favorite poets (probably third behind Shakespeare and Whitman). I think my favorite poem by him might be Kaddish. He has a lot of great ones. I'm still not even half way through the collection, as I will read a few of them and then put it aside and read something else to come back to it later. I also love Howl, A Supermarket in California, Poem Rocket, To an Old Poet in Peru, and I Beg You Come Back and be Careful.

How about you? I haven't really read much of the other beat writers except Ken Kesey. My brother is the one who introduced me to the beatniks. He's read almost everything by Kerouac, Burroughs, and others.

Hey, do you reckon that troll in the bus thread will get banned? He seems to be just interested in trolling threads.
