the purges...seriously, that was just like the German "gleichschaltung", if you know what i mean. Hitler also used the Social Democrats at first, then he disposed of them.

yep. you cant deny it. I mean, in 1945, they had come from a poor feudal peasant nation with a 16th century economy to a new superpower...
But i think there was a lot of exploitation going on, too.
