I agree. We need to mount a vigorous defense of Marx's LTV. As Mikelpore argues in the last post of that thread, marginal utility might explain local fluctuations in prices but the LTV, when interpreted and developed by Marx, discloses the secret of capitalist accumulation and explains why the class struggle is endemic to capitalism. In terms of scope the two theories are different species. When proponents of marginal utility crow that their theory displaces the LTV, they are making vastly inflated claims. Btw, I like Mike's conclusion to the thread, how about giving him a 'thanks' or rep point?
