Heh, yes, I had forgotten about the supposed 'religious parallels'. Looking through the chapter again, it seems it's even worse than I remembered. Though I do like how I seem to have written, "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA," across the margins. Looking through his sources (the 'Further Reading' page), it's not surprising that he wrote what he did when he recommends Popper's critique as a 'classic', as well as Cohen and Tucker.

I've read 'Ten Theories of Human Nature', by the same author as 'Seven Theories' (I presume they're more or less the same, except with one having more chapters), and I'll have to agree that the chapter on Marx is rather shit. It currently has a bunch of derogatory notes in the margins.
