Yes, I'm still a member, one of the leading in the Dutch section actually. I do have somewhat differing views though compared to many others and I sometimes got the concern from other leading members that I could be "misrepresenting the CWI". While I think this reflects a rather childish stance to debates, it was one of my considerations in removing any specific CWI reference on my profile.

I hope this clears it up.

ahaha, it's nothing near as complicated as any of that stuff. 'Modernist' was the term Bordiga used for people who thought that the essential points of Marx's theory needed updating or revising in light of changing world events.

On Derek Sayer though, I have read a couple of chapters of The Violence of Abstractions: Analytical Foundations of Historical Materialism (Expounding on the categories of 'productive force' and 'social relations of production') which were really brilliant

I realize you were joking...But as regards your question of a mass party...The toiling masses are instinctively revolutionary because their lives bring them into conflict with capital and its state every day. The "Left" fails to organize or reach them because it parachuts in as their "saviour", it refuses to learn from the people and if it doesnt learn from the working masses it cant lead them...simple as. Of course most of the Left doesnt really want a revolution. They just want to feel good about themselves.

We are very much potentially in a pre-revolutionary period...But appealing to the labour aristocracy and trying to resurrect old style labourism is a dead end which is what the CWI is about.
