Yes they had a non-agression pact but Finland was cutting negotiations from the USSR and, as before during the Allied Invasion in 1918, Finland was used to invade Leningrad one of the most key cities of the entire USSR. This was a stradgey, which you seem to forget and critize me for you think that the USSR was being "Imperialistic" st this point, used by Imperialists during that time and it was eventualled used again by the Germans and finnish. You take is as if Finland is the most biggest victum to big bad Soviet Imperialism. The Communist party knew that if they did anything wrong to to upset Finland one of their enemies could use this to invade Leningrad and use the Finland gulf as a way for troops to get there. Just becuase they had a non-agression pact doesnt mean the USSR thought this would last forever and ever. Your "strategic sense" misplaces me for do you think that the USSR's most key city, Leningrad, would be invincable to attack?

If it was "state Capitalist" at the time then how come the expoliters, kulaks, were killed for being Capitalists, they were starving the country by burning crops and killing their livestock thus a wide famine, and let us not forgetthe calling of the Finland war "Imperialists." It wasted lives of the Red Army yes but it certainly wasnt Imperialists. The Finish had German backing and not only that but in previous history the UK had used the gulf of Finland and if the Gulf of Finland was used by German then leningrad could be invaded sucessfully.
