Well following that criteria any Communist revolutionary could be admired, yet it's always Che. You don't see Lenin on T-shirts constantly.

P.S: There's no passage condoning the stoning of people working on Sundays -- Christ never said so. However, there might be one in Jewish law. But I doubt it.

I understand that the Bible should not be interpreted literally, but seen as humanity's vision of God's message. What I mean by that is that the Bible is still divine, but written by humans and was influenced by human society (an example would be making God as a man even though God is not a physical being). Because it is influenced by humans, we can also see the gradual revelation in the books. For example, the first books of the Bible see God as more of an ethnic deity (just more powerful than others) but by Isaiah, God's monotheism is well understood. It shows humanity's understanding of God (for example, going back 4,000 years and telling people that every living thing they saw came from a complicated process of natural selection wouldn't make much sense) growing.

So those passages in the Bible were a reflection of the times, but not a thing to be interpreted literally. I don't think gays should be stoned.
